This document explains how our organization “heimlichlaw.com” (“Company”) uses the personal data we collect from you when you use our website, and services; how that information is stored and used; and security for that information.  It also details your rights.

What data we collect and how we collect your data.

  • User supplied information: Personally Identifiable Information (PII), such as name, email address, phone number, etc.  If you provide us with your PII, you are agreeing to our processing, storage, and usage of the PII in communicating and discussing your matter.  Additionally, questions you ask, and documents you upload, and any further information the Company may require in handling your matter.  If you register for services, or register on our website.
  • Automatically gathered information: The Company uses the Internet for communications and may automatically gather such information as your browser type, ISP (Internet Service Provider), IP (Internet Protocol) address, referring/exiting pages, computer type, OS (Operating System), and date and time stamp information.  If using video conferencing, log files and sessions may be logged and/or recorded.
  • Informed Consent: If the Company communicates with you via telephone and/or video conferencing, you hereby consent to the Company recording the telephone and/or video conferencing discussion.  If you do not consent, you MUST inform the Company in writing (email is fine) and then we will communicate only via email.
  • User comments: If you leave comments on the website we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture may be visible to the public in the context of your comment.  Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
  • User supplied media: If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

How do we store your data?

Cookies

User cookies: If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.  If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.  If you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies can last for two days to longer depending upon your choices such as, if you select “Remember Me”.  If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited.
