I met Alan a little more than 20 years ago, I was looking for an attorney regarding
Trademark’s and potentially Patents on products, I was working on. Alan was
recommended to me by a business friend that was excited to pass Alans name to
Over the years Alan has been a very important colleague in many different areas
of business including filing for a CA Corporation, registering the Company name,
filing for Trademark’s, Patents, business licenses etc. While he specialized in
Patents, I found Alan to be highly technical in many areas and has offered
suggestions that have led to real solutions during the Patent process.
Unfortunately I have had to use Alans extensive skills in Litigation which he
executed to success for me.
Alans knowledge of the USPTO and the patent inspection process has resulted in
him challenging denials by inspectors and succeeding in acceptance by the USPTO
I highly recommend Alan for any type of legal work he finds interesting.
Bird dogged the process to completion. Stayed on top of the deadlines and details. Well done!

SiBreeze Technologies is a developer of leading-edge proprietary technologies and IC products in power management. With the assistance of Heimlich Law, we have received 8 US patents on our core technology. Heimlich also filed a trademark application for us. Mr. Heimlich is competent and capable, and easy to work with. Rather than charging for things that you can do, like patent maintenance fees, Mr. Heimlich gives you the choice to do it yourself with instructions. I recommend Heimlich Law.

Nexsales is a B2B Demand Generation Solutions provider based in Cupertino, CA. We are experts in contact data management, sales outreach, and lead generation. We started working with Heimlich Law in 2011, and since then, they have provided us with excellent legal support for such things as Client Contracts, Master Service Agreements (MSA), negotiations, M&A strategies, filing a lawsuit in the US that required coordination with an Indian law firm against the same party in India, and such. We exclusively rely on Heimlich Law for all our legal support. Alan’s experience with the technology industry and breadth of business experience saves us lots of time and costs. It has been a pleasure working with Heimlich Law. Heimlich Law is very responsive, and I highly recommend them.

I met and retained Alan in 2014. He counseled and successfully represented me to secure two complex issued patents as well as trademarks. The patents were lengthy and non-trivial. His guidance was invaluable. When technical or procedural issues arose during patent prosecution (e.g., USPTO rules, case citations, prior art, examiner objections, etc.), his experience was obvious and he handled them quickly, thoroughly, and flawlessly, including the written record (specifications, claims, arguments, office actions), examiner phone meetings, and sometimes simply advice.
Regarding client communications, Alan responded to all of my e-mails promptly, point-by-point, which is greatly appreciated and, I’ve found, is not the case with some other attorneys.
Alan’s rates are reasonable and precisely reflect actual work. His communications are fairly spare and to the point, so he is effective, efficient, and honest. He is not wordy, nor does he spend time on anything superfluous.
I recommend him without reservation.
Alan has been handling my patent work for over 20 years. By my count, five patents have issued, and i'm happy with the process that Alan orchestrated, from the managing the initial invention descriptions, to adding relevant literature, to shaping of the patent claims, to revisions of the descriptions. Alan is always patient and he asks good questions to help flesh out the key parts of the invention. I've certainly learned a lot from Alan about the hurdles that successful claims and supporting descriptions need to meet. Alan's work with the inevitable office action phase has been precise, timely, and ultimately successful. What else can I say? I'm happy. (I'm currently working on another invention that I haven't fully revealed to Alan, and I hope that one turns out well too!)
Every project takes time, effort, clearity, concentration, good communication, emails and calls back and forth. Working with Alan Heimlich, as my patent attorney, taught me how to articulate time and planning long terms. I come from a country where planning is not in our daily routine or life, live the present and expect the best of the day.
I designed, worked, and tested a prototype BBQ grill. Alan Patents expertise, conversations we had by phone , emails connected and articulate every little detail for my 2 patents. We were rejected for the first one, but Alan did his own research, discussed, explained and clarified that our product was different, better and practical to use; the patent examiner was very detail oriented as well but Alan did not give up easily. Alan kept working until we got both of them clean and approved it.
I am an immigrant, where English is my second language, had to learn, love and respect the United States. I am very grateful to be here, and more grateful to have met Alan Heimlich, a good family person who took a chance and time to work with me and my project. Looking forward to continuing working with him in another project as well.
